  1. Honest answer, wait until full reviews come back for both of them.

Here’s the deal. Both are completely new ventures for both companies. Blackberry (a Canadian company that has done extremely well with its devices) has never done a touch-screen device before, let alone had to incorporate the coding for the features current touch-screens (or even past touch screens) allow for, such as the flick-scroll feature, zooming to enlarge an item on screen, touch keypad, disabling the screen while the phone is on or near the ear…

The T-Mobile G1 is coming from HTC, a veteran in touch-screen windows-based devices. But they are suddenly using a brand new Mobile OS: Google Android. While Android looks to be stable, it is completely new and could have small issues that will have to be patch up as things come up. Not even Google is infallible all the time.

The ~only~ significant benefit I see to the T-Mobile G1 is the fact that because it is GSM, there is going to be the slight chance that you can crack it and bring it over to a slightly better network *cough*at&t*cough cough*. Well… other than the fact that Blackberry does have a sad tendency to have its service crash once every few months, effectively leaving every blackberry owner in North America out of the loop and without the mobile life-line they have grown addicted to.

If you are solely looking at the devices and care not for coverage outside of where you live, whichever one works for you will be better for you (obviously, test both units out when they become available). If you are looking at networks… have you ever seen the commercial “Can you hear me now?… Good.”… Verizon.

  2. If you are a interested in programming phones,
I suggest android phones, since it’s more customizable than the others.
Every part of the phone can be programmed.
